On December 19, 2024, Changzhou Core Energy Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Core Energy”) celebrated a major milestone as its 1 millionth automotive-grade dual-sided cooling encapsulated power module rolled off the production line. This achievement makes Core Energy the second semiconductor company in China capable of mass-producing such modules at scale.

Founded in May 2023, Core Energy is a high-tech semiconductor company focused on the development, design, production, and sales of advanced encapsulated power modules. It was established through a joint initiative led by MacMic Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “MacMic Technology”) and Changzhou Xinbei District Phase I Science and Technology Innovation Investment Center (Limited Partnership), among others. Since its inception, Core Energy has rapidly completed the construction and commissioning of three high-standard automated production lines for power modules and has successfully passed automotive-grade client certifications. The company has developed a comprehensive portfolio of power modules tailored to diverse market needs. These include the flagship dual-sided cooling DSC encapsulated modules, alongside SSC, DCM, TPAK, SMPD, three-level NPC, and 3-in-1 full-bridge encapsulated modules.

The successful offline production of 1 million dual-sided cooling encapsulated modules not only underscores the company’s excellence and market recognition in the high-end automotive power module sector but also highlights its R&D team’s leading-edge expertise and ability to innovate in large-scale encapsulated power module technology.

The automotive-grade dual-sided cooling encapsulated module employs advanced dual-sided welding and cooling technology. It is compatible with both IGBT and SiC MOSFET chips. The parasitic inductance of the module’s commutation loop has been reduced to 6-8 nH, while its thermal resistance is approximately 30% lower than that of traditional single-sided indirect water-cooled modules. The module has successfully passed all reliability certifications at both module and system levels, including stringent power cycling tests under △Tj = 115°C conditions for 50,000 cycles. Its superior electrical, thermal, and reliability characteristics make it well-suited to meet market demands for motor controllers up to 200 kW.
